China’s BYD wins luxury European safety score for electric SUV

LONDON– BYD on Wednesday got a desired luxury Euro NCAP security score for its electric ATTO 3 crossover SUV, the most recent Chinese carmaker to get leading marks as it looks for to get a grip in Europe’s affordable vehicle market.

Two various other Chinese-made cars and trucks– the eCitroën C5 X, built by a joint endeavor between Stellantis and Dongfeng and the Mobilize Limo, an electrical sedan made by Renault along with Jiangling Motors– obtained four-star rankings.

Rankings from the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) are not binding, as it does not accredit lorries for roadway use. European consumers pay interest to Euro NCAP’s security tests, and also carmakers aggressively market great rankings.

Last month Chinese opponent Great Wall Motor received first-class scores for its WEY brand name Coffee 01 hybrid SUV and its ORA brand name Funky Cat electric sedan (specifically, below).

Just this week BYD introduced the ATTO 3 in India, which sells in China as the Yuan Plus. Recently, German vehicle leasing business Sixt said it has committed to buying about 100,000 electric automobiles from China’s BYD in the coming years.

Among the other cars and trucks obtaining a luxury ranking on Wednesday was Mercedes-Benz’s EQE electric car (below).

The EQE’s motorist aid system– including one that relocates the cars and truck to the slowest lane on a freeway and brings it to a stop if the chauffeur ends up being unresponsive– made it the highest-scoring auto until now for assisted-driving features, Euro NCAP stated.
